Involving Countries
The Asian continent consists of numerous countries and diverse cultures. People from India, Korea, China, the Philippines, Nepal, Singapore, and so on have created a legacy towards the American people. Different people from different nations have spread knowledge throughout the world. Peace has been establsihed, and prosperity has flourished to the extreme. Every nation has their own unique features and specialties. By the combination of these forces, the Asian American and Asian Pacific Islanders were able to create a wonder of inventions.
The Asian Community
Immigrating from Asia, they came to help America when needed. Whether it was constructing a road or bridge, or helping out with new inventions, Asians helped form a society of equality and prosperity. They did this through many paths and after great deal of adversity, they were rewarded when America dedicated an entire MONTH to recognize and honor the heritage of those who worked hard in the process of creating a life that all Americans deserve. - Built mostly by Chinese immigrants, on May 10, 1869, the American Transcontinental Railroad was finished. - China formulated four amazing inventions: the compass, gunpowder, papermaking, as well as printing (both woodblock and movable type) - One ancient invention made by India was crucible steel back in 200 BC - Asians have also developed the creation of soap, silk, glass, ink, parasols, and kites! - Coming from the Indus Civilization, RULERS (not the rulers that rule!) were made! They were further modified in Persia and Central Asia.
How You Can Give Back
Although you might not be part of this diverse group, you can still make a change and an effort! As we all might be aware, asian hate has been growing rapidly in the past year. But not all people are aware of the power and kindness Asian Americans and Asian Islanders have brought into this world, the world that we reside in. AAPI Heritage Month is not only a time to celebrate and honor AAPI cultures across the U.S, but we also have the opportunity to advocate for their equity and safety. In order to celebrate this unique month to the fullest, we have to be able to understand the importance of this tradition. This is the time where we can speak against those who wish ill for Asians. For those who believe that nothing has been created by Asians or those who think that never will. This month helps signify that everyone is a whole, a group of people who wish to thrive and nothing less. - Making sure you respect a culture other than your own. - Learning the history and truth about those Asians who suffered for the welfare of the future generations. - Dining/supporting Asian people or their bussinesses/brands.
A Quote
"When you look at the Asians, the Asian is very gifted in creation, creativity and inventions. If you go to Japan or any Asian country, they can turn a television into a watch. They're very creative. And you look at the Indians, they have been very gifted in the spirituality" - Reggie White
